December blogging – Zachary’s birthday!

Let’s pretend like it’s December, ok? I have so much to catch up on that I am just going to dive in…starting with Zachary’s birthday party!!

We celebrated a week before his actual birthday with friends and family at my in-laws house and it was a great time! My theme was winter/christmas/blue & red…..random I know. But it came out exactly like I had imagined. Almost every idea I used came directly from pinterest, so I can take zero credit

Let’s start with the invitations. These were very last minute. We had planned on doing his party closer to Christmas but then we had to change it to the first weekend in December and so I literally threw these together in about three days.

I think that I did very budget friendly party (Spencer might disagree!) I used a lot of things that I already had and either re-styled it, spray painted it or added some inexpensive decorations to it. As you can see I used a lot of craft paper & cheap ornaments!

I printed out a bunch of pictures from Zachary’s first year and just added some scrapbook paper and string to make simple ornaments for the trees. I will definitely do this again for future parties! It was a fun way for people to look at how he has grown and it did a lot of decorating for very little money.

I made the cake myself, and although it was not nearly as flawless as I would have liked it turned out ok!

Zachary was fairly tender with his cake. He enjoyed playing with it but after the first lick didn’t care too much to eat the whole thing like his big brothers did at their first birthday parties! He did enjoy putting his hand in my face and having me lick it off his fingers, he thought that was pretty funny!

We had so many friends and family that came to celebrate our sweet one year old and we are so thankful for everyone that has been apart of Zachary’s first year.
